This week, various OneBeacon groups held a “My Site photo day” at their office. Participants had a photo taken for their My Site profile (your personal page within our employee directory) and even their LinkedIn page. Our San Antonio office paired their photo day with a pizza party lunch, and in Alpharetta, Wendy Womac arranged a team breakfast – and group photo!
Over the past year or so, you may have received some “phishy” emails from unknown vendors inviting you to click a link and enter personal information. From now through November 30, you could be rewarded if you do not click on these suspect emails. IT’s Barbara Medeiros, Manager of Network Security, and her team have spearheaded an anti-phishing contest, entering all those who avoid the trap into a drawing in which four lucky winners will receive their choice of an iPad mini or Samsung tablet. We interviewed Barbara for some insight on the contest.
As with any organization, over the years many of our OneBeacon colleagues have moved on to other career opportunities. We are proud of all of our OneBeacon “alumni” and, very often, they keep in touch, a testament to the value former employees place on their time spent with our company. And sometimes we even welcome employees back! In fact, our recruiting team is pleased to share that 12 former employees have rejoined the company within the last year!
On Friday, June 12, CEO Mike Miller joined White Mountains Insurance Group (“WTM”) CEO Ray Barrette and other senior executives as hosts of the annual WTM investor information meeting. Hosted at the Hilton Times Square in New York City, the event drew analysts, investors, Board members, staff, family and friends. The meeting featured presentations from Ray and Mike, as well as Sirius CEO Allan Waters, and updates on various other WTM investments and financials. A Q&A session followed the prepared remarks. Earlier this week our newly acquainted Boston team enjoyed a meet-and-greet breakfast at their brand new office space. Many members of the various groups (IMU, OBTI, OBHC, Actuarial Research, MarComm, Catastrophe Modeling and Enterprise Underwriting) are meeting – and working together – for the first time.
