Striking Up Camaraderie

Recently, our Denver Community Engagement team hit the lanes with their nonprofit partner, Special Olympics Colorado, sparing time to build camaraderie. Athletes from across the state joined forces to showcase their skills and celebrate the power of sport.

At SOCO, they are committed to fostering a vibrant community where every athlete is valued and included. Intact’s Dana Rodock shared, “The SOCO athletes and families are a caring and welcoming community; this truly didn’t feel like volunteering – just a great day spent with friends.” We’re grateful for the chance to support their incredible mission!

Two Generations, One Mission

Jeremiah Program, one of our community engagement nonprofit partners, recently hosted their annual Bash in the Twin Cities! Joined by 500 enthusiastic attendees from the community, our local teammates came together to celebrate and amplify the mission of this transformative organization.

Jeremiah Program is on a powerful journey to help break the cycle of poverty for single mothers and their children, two generations at a time. We’re honored to stand beside them in creating lasting change and brighter futures!

A Helping Hand in Foster Care

CASA of St. Louis is a nonprofit that advocates for children in foster care — ensuring that through the uncertainties, they are heard, and their needs remain a priority. Intact’s Terrill Willis is a longtime CASA volunteer, working one-on-one with St. Louis area kids in the foster care system. CASA recruits, trains, and supports volunteers, to represent and support each child in the court and community. In Terrill’s words, “It’s very rewarding. You are coming into the life of a child— to help them and see them grow.” He recently helped amplify CASA’s story through a local network news interview. Watch his full interview here.

Kudos to our teammates living our value of generosity!

Career Day with Chicago’s Future Leaders

Last month our Chicago office hosted Career Day for a dozen middle and high school students from Chicago’s Neighborhood Boys & Girls Club — our local Community Engagement team nonprofit partner. After a brief introduction from Nelson Kefauver, they played a version of “Deal or No Deal”— complete with miniature briefcases and an oversized check — hosted by Scott Karalis. The game illustrated the dynamics of settling a lawsuit versus taking a chance on a trial. Then Scott and Kathy Lengiewicz spoke about their roles as attorneys working within the claims department of a liability insurance carrier, and the students enjoyed a surprisingly competitive game of Scrabble hosted by Kathy and Michaelle Bauer. Wrapping up the day, Alex Ward explained the role of an underwriter in financial lines. They were excited not only to see our downtown Chicago office, but also learn about the different carriers in specialty insurance.

Strength in Unity

Our Denver community engagement team, along with family and friends, were part of 31 volunteers who joined Special Olympics Colorado’s 2024 Plane Pull event. Together, they pulled the plane 10 feet in just 8.64 seconds, finishing 33rd out of 100 teams!

This incredible event raised $363,000, supporting over 1,300 athletes. A big thank you to everyone who participated and strengthened Intact’s partnership with SOCO! Watch here
