At Intact, we value the diversity of our people, and strive to create an inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued, respected and heard. As Mike Miller mentioned earlier this week, we’re spending the month of March reflecting on the contributions made by women to evolve our country and our industry.
International Women’s Day is on Monday, March 8. The 2021 theme is #ChooseToChallenge, and we’re encouraging employees to take a moment to acknowledge and seek ways to address gender imbalance and bias.
Through challenge comes change. As individuals, we can choose to challenge gender bias and inequality. Collectively, we can make an even bigger impact.
Show your support by striking the #ChoosetoChallenge pose and sharing your pledge on LinkedIn and Twitter on International Women’s Day, Monday, March 8.
This challenge is open to employees of all genders. Here are some sample #ChoosetoChallenge photos from your colleagues:
Step 1: Snap a photo
- Raise your hand at face level, take a half body shot
- Ensure your entire face is clearly visible
- Avoid busy and distracting backgrounds
- Pose in an area with good lighting (photos taken in the morning look best)
- Dress code – No logos, no wording, lighter and brighter colours preferable
- Have someone in your household take the photograph, or use a tripod if you have one
- Smile 😊
Step 2: Choose a message to share with your photo:
- I will help forge a gender equal world
- I will maintain a gender equal mindset
- I will challenge gender stereotypes and biases
- I will call out gendered actions or assumptions
- I will forge positive visibility of women
- I will try to influence others’ beliefs and actions
- I will celebrate women’s achievements
Step 3: Post your photo and message
Post your #ChoosetoChallenge photo on LinkedIn or Twitter anytime on Monday, March 8 using all four of the following hashtags: #ChoosetoChallenge #IWD2021 #MyIntact #IFCStorytellers
Be sure to check the intranet on all month long for more Women’s History Month content, and ways you can #ChooseToChallenge on International Women’s Day, and every day.
