By now, we all know about the terrible situation that unfolded in Texas over the last couple weeks. Due to a winter storm, the state faced record-low temperatures – snow and ice made roads impassable, and millions faced disruptions in power and water supply.
As families were struggling to stay warm and safe in the freezing conditions – Brad York, President of Intact Public Entities, extended a helping hand to a fellow employee.
Brad, with the help of his son Diego delivered firewood to an employee who lives down the street from him in San Antonio.
Said Brad, “I would like to recognize the entire San Antonio team who stayed connected, checking on the welfare of each other throughout the entire week. It was a collaborative effort and reassures me of the kindness and community our team has.”
Our HR team has also been following up with employees that are based in Texas, and while things are slowly beginning to improve, it may take a couple of weeks for the state to completely recover. Our thoughts are with all our colleagues who have been affected.
As announced previously – on behalf of all U.S. employees, the Intact Charitable Trust is making a $5k donation each to the American Red Cross and the Central Texas Food Bank to contribute to the relief efforts.
