By now, many of us have seen Typhoon Haiyan’s devastating impact throughout the Philippines. We are relieved to let you know that our IT consultants and their families in the area appear to have endured the event without any loss of life or property. And consistent with our response to past natural disasters, OneBeacon is showing its support by contributing $20,000 to the relief efforts.

We have donated $10,000 to support the purchase of food, clothing and other supplies being gathered and packaged by one of our offshore partners, Eclaro. Many of our own consultants are taking personal time to help in these preparations. Supplies will go to the Philippine Red Cross, which will deliver the items to impacted areas via ship transport on a weekly basis for the foreseeable future. - Salvation Army World Services Office
Our Charitable Trust contributed an additional $10,000 to support the Philippine-area efforts of The Salvation Army World Services Office. CIO Scott McClintock, who has personal experience with the organization, says: “I can vouch for the work being done by this organization in the Philippines and know it will go to where it is most desperately needed.”

Thanks to help from OneBeacon employees, 435 relief bags are prepared for shipping to the Philippines. Bags include biscuits, pork & beans, canned goods, no-cook noodles, water, and soap.
