Over the past several weeks, we have been sharing articles highlighting this year’s Bravissimo winners on the Intact news page on the intranet. Today, we’re pleased to share more about the team behind The Guarantee and Frank Cowan Company acquisition and integration or, as the project was confidentially referred to before the acquisition, “Project Marigold.”
In December 2019, Intact completed the acquisition of The Guarantee Company of North America and Frank Cowan Company – enhancing Intact’s North American leadership position and adding to all of our main growth pipelines.
Leading up to the acquisition and throughout the post transaction integration, the Project Marigold team was responsible for transactional due diligence, weekly task force and steering committee meetings, and essential day-to-day tactics required to meet the mandates assigned to each task force. Each member of the team dedicated a significant amount of time to achieve their mandates, often working nights and weekends while also juggling the daily duties and routines of their regular role.
Unlike past transactions, the acquisition dynamics in Project Marigold presented many unique and unprecedented challenges for the team. The project demanded patience, endurance, perseverance and tenacity – qualities which they exhibited with a high level of integrity and respect. Despite limited opportunity to actively engage with their future colleagues from The Guarantee and Frank Cowan Company, the project team used every interaction as a chance to build relationships and exhibit our Values. The scope of the project covered business in both Canada and the U.S. and gave Intact and OneBeacon employees a unique opportunity to work together.
The acquisition of The Guarantee and Frank Cowan Company was an ideal strategic fit for Intact and a great opportunity to deepen our expertise, broaden the products and services available to brokers and customers, and further bolster the second-to-none experience that Intact strives to deliver.
With the effort and dedication of these nominees, we were able to achieve our pre-close mandates, close in record time and position Intact for a successful post-close integration.
