Congratulations to our colleague Bob Morris, who is celebrating 35 years at OneBeacon this month! Based in our Atlanta, Georgia office, Bob is a Risk Control Technology Specialist for OneBeacon Technology.
Bob began his insurance career at Aetna Casualty and Surety in October of 1980 and joined OneBeacon, or Atlantic Mutual as it was back then, in 1982. He has been with the company ever since!
Bob has been in loss prevention/risk control since the beginning of his career. He joined the OneBeacon Technology team in 2009, just as OneBeacon became laser focused on specialty, and has loved being a part of the group. When asked what has kept him at OneBeacon for 35 years, Bob said “OneBeacon really empowers its employees. There’s a lot of trust and respect. Communication within our close knit team is open and responsive, which allows us to deliver exceptional service to our policyholders and agency partners.”
Bob enjoys being a part of OBTI’s team. “We’ve experienced so much success and profitability, it’s like playing on a winning team. We all work so well together.”
His favorite memory from over the years is when Bob was given a day to work with the safety team for one of his service accounts that was experiencing an increased trend of sprain/strain types of injuries. He provided training on ergonomics/manual materials handling to the safety team in the morning and then the safety team worked with the Production Managers/Supervisors to implement various controls that very afternoon that significantly reduced the potential for future injuries. Bob was overwhelmed by the participation and the improvements they were able to provide. It was after this encounter that Bob really appreciated the value and effectiveness of working with his accounts to help make meaningful improvements to their business operations.
Bob’s advice to anyone who may be just starting their career is to follow what you love to do- “choose a career that interests and motivates you.”
