Canton Team Runs in Annual Reebok Road Race

This fall, 12 of our Canton employees (plus friends and families) participated in the Reebok Corporate Challenge Road Race, making it the fifth year in a row that OneBeacon has entered a team. The fun event raises funds for various charities and organizations in the Canton community.

Located just down the street from OneBeacon’s office, Reebok’s headquarters serve as the start/finish for the race. Nearly 700 competitors registered for 9th Annual event, which included 10K and 5K runs, a one-mile run for kids and those in wheelchairs, a fitness challenge and corporate challenge.

According to Heather Matthes, director at the 150 Royall Street (OneBeacon) fitness center, her favorite part of the race is seeing participants of all levels and abilities reach the goal of finishing a 5K. “It is a tough course that challenges even the highest level of athletes, so finishing is a great accomplishment in itself,” said Matthes. “In addition to supporting the local community, the race helps employees get into shape, stay active, set achievable goals, and provides a yearly, recurring event to train for.”

As a direct result of this year’s fundraising efforts, $23,400 will be donated to local charities.  Although the funds have not yet been allocated, past contributions have supported the Canton Police and Fire Departments, the Mass. Hospital School, and the Canton Food Pantry.

We look forward to competing in next year’s Race!
