Last year they prepared food at a Boston shelter, this year they read to students! Once again, a team from our IMU group participated in the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation’s (IICF) “Week of Giving” event, which gathers insurance industry volunteers to provide service to neighborhood & community nonprofits throughout the week.
As part of this year’s volunteerism efforts, the group read stories to students at St. John School, located in Boston’s historic North End. Pictured below is IMU’s Meredith Atwood, who engages students in what looks to be a riveting story time!
The group’s participation also gained local press coverage in the North End Waterfront, which you can read here. In the article, Principal Karen McLaughlin notes, “St. John School was honored to be recognized by the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation and we thank the team from OneBeacon Insurance Group for coming to our school and reading to the children. Our students really enjoyed having our special guests read stories to them and they were full of excitement and questions.”
