Our Farmington and Boston offices recently hosted NCAA March Madness bracket tournament events – each with a different spin.
In Boston, participants were invited to fill out their brackets together while enjoying game-time snacks. After the tournament concluded, everyone gathered as IMU’s Gordon Lammert announced the winner. Since he guessed the outcome of the most games correctly, Risk Management’s Dan Fedus received the “28 State Street Championship Belt” (pictured below). Although Dan was traveling that day, the belt will be passed onto him by the winner of the office’s last competitive event – a ping-pong tournament.
In Farmington, participants who filled out brackets were invited to donate $5 for entry, though it was not required. All entry fees were to be donated to the nonprofit of the tournament winner’s choice. On Tuesday, Farmington employees gathered for a pizza lunch as the winner was announced. Of the 71 brackets entered, Healthcare’s Tony Stephans (pictured below) took the crown and selected My Sister’s Place, a nearby homeless shelter, as the beneficiary. With $400 raised by employees as well as a matching donation from the OneBeacon Charitable Trust, the nonprofit will receive a $1,000 donation.
